Business
Case Development
| |
Our experience has included the preparation
of cases for purely internal approval, but has centred on the development
of cases for significant capital investment in line with the Capital
Investment Manual. We have been responsible for or involved in the preparation
of Strategic Outline Cases, Outline Business Cases and Full Business
Cases. |
Involvement has included the development of the strategic
vision and establishment of service and delivery models; the identification
and articulation of long and short listed options including full non-financial
and financial evaluation.
Completion of the document development process has
required the development of close working relationships with key internal
and external stakeholders including Hospital and PCT Trust Board representatives;
senior managers and clinicians; design team colleagues; Strategic Health
Authorities; Supply Chain representatives.

Service
and Capacity Planning
A fundamental element of our experience centres on
the strategic and operational elements of service and capacity planning.
We have a broad range of experience across the general acute, specialist,
mental health and primary care services.
Our involvement has included working with clinical
teams the definition of models of care, and the development of appropriate
care pathways; the identification of relevant service models (for clinical,
clinical support and non-clinical services); definition of key planning
assumptions and the detailed activity planning including activity and
resource projections which the assumptions generate.
We are also experienced in the development of appropriate
functional content and accommodation schedules.
Completion of space utilisation surveys is also a role
undertaken by this organisation
| |
Service
Redesign and Rationalisation

The Team has significant experience in the completion
of strategic service reviews at local, health economy and regional levels.
Such reviews have included the introduction, development, rationalisation,
relocation and cessation of services. Involvement has in some cases
included project implementation and monitoring. |
Members of the Team are skilled in the completion of
demand and capacity analysis using a range of models, and have recognised
expertise in process redesign in terms of clinical and organisational
elements. |
A key element of the service review/redesign process
has involved the Team in the completion of skills assessment, and relevant
retraining and staff development programmes.
Strategic Planning

Projects have included both principal and facilitation
roles, working with senior managers and clinicians across a range of
organisations both within and allied to healthcare.
Project
Management

The nature of the Project Management input from the
Sedgwick Igoe Team has included co-ordination of key design/advisory
team input, but has concentrated on detailed project planning, implementation
and monitoring. The Team is skilled in a range of techniques including
PRINCE 2 and Six Sigma. A fundamental skill within the Team is the management
of project processes, including QA to ensure delivery on programme,
and where costs are within our control, on budget.
| |
| Commissioning
Experience has included the development of outline and
detailed commissioning plans plus implementation of post completion
operational commissioning plans including service transfer co-ordination.
As part of the preparatory work relating to service
transfer the Team has been involved in the development and delivery
of staff training and awareness programmes, plus the design/preparation
of commissioning handbooks and checklists.
| |
Performance
Management Systems

Team members have experience of a wide range of performance
management systems and have been involved in the design and management
of such systems, including database design, report design, performance
analysis, action planning and performance review. |

Systems have been developed for individual, department,
organisation, and health economy use.
Private
Sector Support

In view of the Team’s operational management and
planning experience in conjunction with the NHS we are able to offer
a unique insight to Private Sector Teams in the interpretation of clinical
and service specifications and aspirations, and therefore provide a
positive contribution to design and relationship development. |
| |
Organisational
Change

With a wide variety of experience within and outside
the NHS the Team can assist in the planning and implementation of organisational
change at a micro or macro level. Our experience as change agents, catalysts
and facilitators allows us to offer one-off or on going support as required.
| |
Procurement

With experience of clinical, NHS management and supplier/market
environments we can offer innovative approaches/solutions to the purchaser/supplier
relationship generating cash releasing and cost reduction savings for
all parties.
